Exhibition Continues until Saturday, 23rd February 2007
Firyal is an Iraqi/ British artist. She was born in Baghdad and graduated from the University of Baghdad.
Her exhibition titled Postcards from Mesopotamia is inspired by her reaction to the tragic looting of the Museum of Baghdad in 2003.
Moved by an article by Robert Fisk entitled, “Civilization torn to pieces”, Firyal’s immediate impulse was to try to put back these missing pieces through the medium of art. The result is a colourful interpretation of the ancient history of her country in this tumultuous time.
Firyal has exhibited in London and the Arabian Gulf.
Green Art Gallery is located in Villa 23, St.51, Jumeirah, Dubai, U.A.E .
